The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has urged residents of Onitsha and the entire state to remain vigilant and continue partnering with the Police by reporting suspicious movements and criminal activities within their communities.

CP Orutugu made this appeal on Friday in Onitsha during a live broadcast at Udala Radio Station 104.7 FM, a popular radio station in the city.

According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the visit to the radio station is part of the Command’s renewed efforts to enhance Police-public communication and deepen public trust.

He explained that the visit is one of several ongoing strategic engagements with media platforms across the state. “The visit, which focused on strengthening the Command’s communication channels with the public, featured a live radio interaction where the CP addressed critical security concerns and discussed ongoing efforts by the Police to sustain peace and order across Anambra State,” Ikenga stated.

During the programme, CP Orutugu emphasized the importance of proactive community participation in policing and the need for timely information sharing. SP Ikenga in the statement also reiterated the Command’s commitment to transparency, professionalism, and accountability.

He added that the CP urged residents of Onitsha and the wider state to remain vigilant and to continue reporting suspicious movements and criminal elements within their communities.

“The Command appreciates the support of the media in promoting security awareness and calls on all stakeholders to remain partners in the ongoing drive to maintain a safer Anambra,” Ikenga added.
