Mrs. Soludo Receives Top NMA Award for Public Health Leadership

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Anambra State Branch, has honoured Dr. Nonye Soludo wife of the Anambra State Governor and founder of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative with a merit award in recognition of her leadership in promoting healthy living and public health advocacy across the state.

The award acknowledges her significant contributions to advancing wellness and public health through her non-governmental initiative, which has been at the forefront of a statewide healthy living campaign.

The presentation took place during the 2025 Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the NMA, Anambra State Branch, held in Awka.

According to the association, Dr. Soludo received the prestigious recognition for her unwavering commitment to improving public health outcomes, her pioneering efforts in promoting healthy lifestyles, and her overall impact on the state’s healthcare sector.

The NMA highlighted her role in advocating for child rights, maternal and infant health, and women’s empowerment.

It noted that she has consistently leveraged her platform to raise awareness, offer practical wellness advice, and inspire positive health practices among thousands of residents.

The award citation further praised Dr. Soludo’s use of social media and community engagement to drive public education on nutrition, wellness, and preventive health initiatives that have transformed the way health is perceived and practiced in the state.

Remarkably, Dr. Soludo was the only female honoured by the association this year, a testament to the far-reaching influence and high regard her initiative has garnered since its launch over three years ago.

Receiving the award on her behalf, Anambra State Commissioner for Health and State Coordinator of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, Dr. Afam Obidike, expressed gratitude to the NMA for the recognition.

He noted that such an honour would further encourage Dr. Soludo to expand her outreach and deepen the impact of her crusade.

Dr. Obidike, who was also an award recipient at the event, commended the NMA for acknowledging the tangible results the governor’s wife has achieved in redefining the concept and practice of healthy living across Anambra State.
