Hands Off Azuka’s Widow: Obigwe Slams Senator Nwoye Over Selfish Political Games

Senator Tony Nwoye

The National Coordinator of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Media Warriors Forum, Evangelist Chinedu Obigwe, has urged the Senator representing Anambra North, Tony Nwoye, to allow the widow of the late Justice Azuka to mourn her husband in peace, rather than dragging her into partisan politics.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Obigwe described it as “very unfortunate” that Justina Azuka has allowed herself to be ensnared by what he called the “poisonous chalice” of Tony Nwoye and the murky waters of Nigerian politics.

According to Obigwe, “The late Justice Azuka will be turning in his grave, seeing that his widow has allowed herself to be brainwashed by Senator Tony Nwoye into joining the chaos of Nigerian politics.

This is a woman who should be focused on mourning her husband and taking care of their children not contesting a bye-election.”

He alleged that Nwoye and his political associates would spend between ₦100 million and ₦200 million in a desperate attempt to ensure that Justina Azuka wins the August 16th bye-election for the Onitsha North I constituency. However, Obigwe insisted that their interest is self-serving and short-term.

“Tony Nwoye is not helping Justina; he is destroying her,” “He is committing a sacrilegious act by distracting a mourning widow from her responsibility of caring for the children her late husband left behind. If she fails to win that election and I believe she will, they will abandon her. And only then will the cobwebs in her eyes clear.”he said

Obigwe urged those pushing her political ambition to redirect their energy and resources towards truly empowering her.

“If Tony Nwoye, Idu Emeka, and the others genuinely care about her and her children, they should raise between ₦50 million and ₦100 million to help her establish a business that can sustain her and her family. That is the honorable path,” he said.

He further likened Nigerian politics to a gambling game, warning that those who drag vulnerable individuals into it for their own ends will eventually discard them once their purpose has been served.

“This is a widow who should be mourning, not chasing political shadows. Sadly, she has abdicated that sacred responsibility. She has made a very bad decision one she may deeply regret after August 16.”he added

.

Obigwe also referenced the case of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s widow, who was courted by colleagues to contest her late husband’s seat but declined, choosing instead to focus on raising her children.

“Justina Azuka should have followed that noble example. Instead, she is allowing a political opportunist like Senator Tony Nwoye to make a mockery of her late husband’s memory by parading her in the name of politics.”he added.

Obigwe condemned what he described as “sympathy politics,” calling it a “sacrilegious sin” on the part of Nwoye and his allies.

“Using the unfortunate death of Justice Azuka to manipulate public emotion for political gain is a desecration of his legacy. They should be ashamed.”he stated
