Anambra APGA Vows to Resist APC Rigging Senatorial, Gubernatorial Elections

The Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has declared its intention to resist all attempts by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to rig the upcoming August 16 Anambra South senatorial by-election.

In a statement titled “Re – We’ll Use By-Election to Show APC Owns Anambra – Ukachukwu,” issued on Sunday by the National Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe described Ukachukwu’s claims as self-deceptive.

According to Obigwe, Ukachukwu is fully aware that the APC has virtually no presence in Anambra State and lacks the electoral strength to secure victory in any election there.

He added that Ukachukwu’s only apparent skill is election rigging. Meanwhile, APGA is focused on winning the votes of Anambra’s electorate in both the August 16 by-election and the November 8 governorship election.

Obigwe accused Ukachukwu of specializing in empty boasts, as demonstrated in the aforementioned news report.

The statement reads in part:

“Ukachukwu is a man who has never won any election in Anambra State since he began contesting. He was APGA’s senatorial candidate for Anambra South in the 2023 general election but lost decisively to the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, of blessed memory. Ukachukwu attempted to fabricate results in Osumenyi, which he smuggled into the local government collation centre, but even with these manufactured figures, the late Senator Ubah defeated him by a wide margin.

One thing about Ukachukwu is that when he speaks to the people of Anambra, he forgets that they are not strangers but individuals who know him well and have rejected him repeatedly in various elections. He will not achieve more than a ‘dead rat’ on August 16 and November 8.

I have reliably gathered that during his visits to APC governors, Ukachukwu has been pleading for their assistance to rig elections in his favor. He plans to use the August 16 by-election as a test run for their rigging machinery in the state, hence his boast that the by-election will show APC ‘owns’ Anambra.”he said.

Obigwe added that any such plans to manipulate the elections on August 16 and November 8 will be strongly resisted by the vigilant electorate of Anambra State.

According to him,”Anambra is APGA land, and the people of the state will continue to vote for APGA candidates in every election, as the party has consistently justified the confidence reposed in it.
