Obigwe Cheers Deputy Governor’s Bold Stand Against Ukachukwu in By-Election

Prince Nicholas -Ukachukwu and Chinedu Obigwe

Chinedu Obigwe, the National Coordinator of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Media Warriors Forum, has commended the Deputy Governor of Anambra State for what he described as a successful effort to checkmate Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, during the by-election held on Saturday, August 16th.

In a statement released on Thursday in Awka, Obigwe criticized Ukachukwu for what he termed “crocodile tears” after the election, alleging that his frustration stemmed from being outmaneuvered by APGA stalwarts who thwarted his alleged attempts to rig the election.

“Ukachukwu’s actions on the day of the by-election did not come as a surprise to me, considering his antecedents,” “This is the same pattern he exhibited in 2019 when he contested for the Senate under the platform of APGA. Back then, he reportedly manufactured 3,000 votes from his Osumenyi country home. Despite that, the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah still defeated him by a wide margin.”Obigwe stated.

Recounting a pre-election conversation, Obigwe claimed, “I told the Commissioner for Environment in advance that Ukachukwu would attack him if he realized his rigging plans were being frustrated. And that was exactly what happened.”

Obigwe went on to describe Ukachukwu as a “shameless thug” whose behavior, he argued, is inconsistent with the dignity required of a governorship aspirant.

“It is now clear to everyone that without electoral malpractice, Ukachukwu cannot even win in his own hometown of Osumenyi or in the larger Nnewi South Local Government Area,” he said.

He praised the efforts of the Deputy Governor, the Commissioner for Environment, and other APGA loyalists for what he called “gallant resistance” against Ukachukwu’s alleged electoral misconduct.

“I doff my cap to our Deputy Governor and other APGA stalwarts who stood firm against electoral fraud on August 16th,” he said.

Obigwe further alleged that Ukachukwu moved around Osumenyi and Nnewi South on election day accompanied by “hefty bouncers,” claiming that he personally assaulted the Commissioner for Environment in Ezinifite community a charge that, according to him, has multiple eyewitness accounts.

“In my view, Ukachukwu has disqualified himself from the governorship race. He is better suited for a job as a nightclub bouncer than for leading a state like Anambra, which prides itself as the Light of the Nation,” Obigwe declared.

He insisted that as long as the votes of Anambra people are allowed to count, APGA will continue to win elections in the state.

“Governor Soludo’s performance is already speaking volumes. It spoke for APGA on August 16th, and it will speak again on November 8th,” he added.

Referencing a viral video allegedly showing Ukachukwu threatening to burn the Deputy Governor’s car, Obigwe said, “Only a thug, frustrated by defeat, can make such a statement. The evidence speaks for itself.”

He reiterated his confidence in the APGA-led administration and the party’s electoral prospects.

“One good turn deserves another. Anambra people will continue to support APGA because they see the progress being made under Governor Soludo’s leadership.”he said.
