Police, Vigilante Arrest Notorious Car Theft Suspect with AVG Face Cap, Master Keys in Anambra
Stolen items found with q car theft suspect in Anambra State
Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with local vigilante groups, have arrested a notorious vehicle theft suspect in Obosi. The suspect was found in possession of master keys and a black face cap bearing the inscription “AVG Special Force.”
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, officers attached to the Isiowulu Police Division, working alongside community vigilante operatives, apprehended the suspect identified as Chidi Nwoye, 24 years old in the early hours of August 22, 2025.
The suspect was intercepted along Minaj Road, Obosi, while operating a stolen tricycle.
SP Ikenga stated that upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to using master keys to steal vehicles and tricycles from various parked locations.
Items recovered from the suspect include:One Hyundai Tucson vehicle (Registration No. PH 725 AAA) without an ignition key,One tricycle (Registration No. NSH 051 UD) without an ignition key,Eight assorted GSM phones,One black face cap marked “AVG Special Force”,One battle axe,One driver’s license belonging to an individual named Ikechukwu (surname withheld),Two bunches of keys,Four master keys,Two ATM cards,One Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC),One vehicle tracking device,One sensor,One USB flash drive,One ear pod,A damaged fuse,A vehicle booklet,Beads,Several improvised wires,An ignition device for tricycles and One brown sling bag containing personal effects, including a pair of red canvas shoes, money, and an Apple iWatch
SP Ikenga further disclosed that police operatives have extended investigations to the suspect’s hideout in a bid to recover additional stolen property.
“In light of this development, the Command urges members of the public particularly those whose items have recently been stolen and match the recovered items to visit the Isiowulu Police Station for possible identification and recovery,” he said.
He also stated that the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
