Soludo Vows Justice for Victim of Onitsha Main Market Tragedy

The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo, has assured the family of Miss Chinwe Igwe victim of the recent clash at Onitsha Main Market involving traders and operatives of the Clean and Healthy Anambra initiative, known as the Ocha Brigade that justice will be served in the matter of her death.

Governor Soludo also extended his condolences to the Igwe family, describing the incident as a tragic and deeply regrettable event that occurred earlier in the week.

The governor gave the assurance during a meeting with representatives of the Igwe family, who hail from Ikwo in Ebonyi State.
The meeting was held at the Onitsha North Local Government Headquarters.
During the engagement, Soludo pledged that a thorough and transparent investigation would be carried out to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
He further stated that any security personnel found culpable would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
“It is crucial that all operatives adhere strictly to established protocols to prevent avoidable tragedies. Every life matters,” the governor stated.
While commending law enforcement agencies for their swift response to the incident, Soludo also urged them to maintain professionalism and continue working to uphold peace and order across the state.
In addition to meeting the victim’s family, Governor Soludo visited a private hospital in Onitsha to sympathize with one of the injured individuals, who is reportedly recovering well.
He also extended his well-wishes to two other victims currently receiving treatment at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital in Nnewi.
