The Young Progressive Party (YPP) governorship candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has expressed deep concern over the escalating insecurity in the entire Old Aguata bloc, where criminal camps have reportedly been established in various farmlands across the area.
According to Sir Paul Chukwuma, “Under my administration as governor of Anambra State, insecurity in Old Aguata and, indeed, across the entire state will be eradicated within just three months.”
In a statement he issued, Sir Paul Chukwuma recounted his campaign visit to Ekwulobia on Friday, where his team received a massive and warm reception. During the visit, they met with the Old Aguata Union representing Aguata, Orumba South, and Orumba North Local Government Areas (LGAs), and were welcomed by formidable supporters and stakeholders.
He emphasized the special significance of Aguata in his life.
“Ekwulobia has been my home since around 1982. The Old Aguata Bloc, comprising the three LGAs of Aguata, Orumba North, and Orumba South, is a vital part of Anambra’s comparative advantage in commerce, industry, and agriculture.”he stated.
However, he lamented the current state of insecurity: “Unfortunately, the entire Aguata bloc has been overwhelmed by insecurity, with criminal camps established in farmlands throughout the area. Under my leadership, this insecurity will become a thing of the past within three months.”
Sir Paul further highlighted Ekwulobia’s importance as a significant transit hub, noting that the government’s recent centralization of transport terminals contradicts the wishes of the people of Aguata. He pledged to address this issue if elected.
He also promised to revitalize popular markets such as Nkwo Igboukwu, a long-standing commercial center attracting traders from near and far.
“We will modernize this market to unlock its full potential,” he stated.
Addressing educational concerns, Sir Paul noted, “Just as I observed in Nnewi recently, the welfare of our teachers must be prioritized. Currently, Aguata has no government-owned teachers’ quarters. We will provide solid infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning throughout our state.”
He however expressed gratitude to the people of the region: “Thank you, Ndi Aguata. Thank you, Orumba North and Orumba South.”
