Obiano’s Aide Celebrates YPP Deputy Governorship Candidate Uzu Okagbue on His Birthday
Chief Willie Nwokoye, Principal Secretary to the former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, hosted a lavish and elegant dinner to commemorate the birthday of Uzu Okagbue, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP).
Okagbue, who served as Chief of Protocol and Deputy Chief of Staff to former Governor Obiano, was Chief Nwokoye’s colleague in government for eight years.
Beyond their official roles, Okagbue and Nwokoye have cultivated a deep friendship rooted in shared values such as hard work, resilience, intellectual rigor, dedication, passion, and commitment to the public good.
Uzu Okagbue, known simply as Uzu has earned a reputation as a hardworking, focused, and detail-oriented young man who is both kind and generous, with a proven ability to get things done.
The celebration, held at Chief Nwokoye’s residence in Amawbia, was attended by some of Anambra’s most distinguished figures from various industries and political backgrounds.
Speaking at the event, Chief Willie Nwokoye described the gathering as a celebration of friendship.
“I welcome everyone to my home this evening. Tonight, we celebrate friendship. I want to be counted among those championing the revolution to celebrate friendship, not just funerals. Uzu and I spent eight years in government together; we understood and learned from each other’s strengths. I, Willie Nwokoye of Ibobo Amawbia, stand here today to say that many people in Anambra do not truly understand who Uzu is. He was critical to the success of Obiano’s administration. Uzu is a planner, organizer, and strategic thinker of exceptional caliber. I owe no one an apology for celebrating him today. I know he is contesting the November 8 election under a party banner; I wish more candidates would stand for election on their own merits. Let anyone quote me anywhere,I want the governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party to know he has a deep thinker as his running mate. Uzu can rest easy if he wins because his depth and thought process are truly extraordinary,” Chief Nwokoye stated.
The birthday dinner, which began around 5 p.m., lasted until approximately 9:30 p.m. Guests were treated to fine wine, a variety of exquisite dishes, and classical music, much to their delight.
Responding, Uzu Okagbue described the event as a memorable and remarkable celebration of friendship.
“Today will remain etched in my memory forever. What unfolded was more than a birthday celebration,it was a rare and beautiful expression of friendship. Ibobo staged a feast of splendor in my honor, an unforgettable gathering that left me deeply moved,” Okagbue said.
He expressed gratitude to the host and guests.
