10 Anaocha Communities Crown Soludo ‘Ekwueme Anaocha’ in Resounding Endorsement

Ten communities in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State have publicly endorsed Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for a second term in office and conferred on him the Chieftaincy title of “Ekwueme Anaocha.”

According to a statement released by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Christian Aburime the endorsement and conferment took place during a political rally held at the local government headquarters in Neni.

The statement noted that the rally attracted thousands of residents, local leaders, and stakeholders, highlighting the widespread support for the Governor’s leadership, vision, and ongoing developmental initiatives.

In his address at the event, Governor Soludo expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Anaocha, emphasizing the values of hard work and enterprise deeply rooted in Igbo culture.

“Thanks to Anaocha,” he began, “we, Ndi Igbo, are known for our hard work and enterprise. Those who seek to pervert our values do not represent us; they do not define who we are as a community,especially when we know that the majority of our people are doing great things,” he said.

The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting small-scale traders across the state:“

I want to make it clear that petty traders, and those whose capital is below ₦100,000, are not required to pay any form of levy or tax. We are a party committed to uplifting the poor and ensuring that no one is left behind. This principle is exemplified in all our policies,” he added.

Governor Soludo also highlighted the ongoing infrastructural projects in Anaocha, particularly the construction of dual carriage roads, which form part of over 1,000 kilometers of roads currently being developed across Anambra State.

Speaking on the future of political leadership in the state, Soludo reaffirmed his commitment to equity and fairness through the zoning system.

“After my administration, I will ensure that governance is handed over to someone from the Anambra Central Senatorial District,” he declared.

According to the statement, this position underscores the administration’s dedication to inclusive governance and balanced political representation.

The event featured a variety of community voices commending Governor Soludo’s impact on development, governance, and transparency.

Chief Kenneth Echendu, speaking on behalf of the Presidents-General of the ten communities, praised the Governor’s infrastructural strides.

“Governor Soludo has transformed our communities through significant infrastructural development. Roads and facilities have improved access to essential services. His constant engagement with community leaders has fostered collaboration and good governance at the grassroots level,” he said.

Mrs. Obumneme Okafor, a parent and beneficiary of the free education policy, shared her appreciation.

“Thanks to Governor Soludo, my children now attend school without the burden of school fees. His commitment to revitalizing education brings hope for a brighter future for our children and the entire community,” she stated.

Similarly, Mr. Abba Jonas, representing Okada riders, spoke on the Governor’s impact on the informal transport sector.

“Governor Soludo has been a tremendous support to our group. His efforts to organize and empower Okada riders have not only improved our working conditions but have also raised our status in the community. We now feel recognized and valued under his administration.”he added.

Other beneficiaries also spoke,
Mrs. Ndidi Ezenwanne, a recipient of free antenatal care and delivery services;
Oshim Chinaza, who benefitted from the One Youth, Two Skills initiative;
and Mrs. Obiekezie Anthonia, who spoke on behalf of market women each testified to the Governor’s impactful policies.

They noted that many women now experience safer pregnancies and childbirths, and that numerous youths have been equipped with valuable skills, allowing families to thrive economically and socially.

One of the major highlights of the event was the formal conferment of the Chieftaincy title “Ekwueme Anaocha” on Governor Soludo, symbolizing trust and honor bestowed upon him by the people.

In addition, a symbolic cheque of ₦50 million was presented to support the Governor’s re-election campaign.
