Anambra CP Hosts Security Operatives for Peaceful 2025 Polls

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has convened a Situation Room meeting with representatives of various security agencies in the state.

The meeting, held at the Command Headquarters in Awka, is part of ongoing preparations for the upcoming Anambra Governorship Election scheduled for November 8, 2025.

This initiative aligns with the directives of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), aimed at fostering inter-agency collaboration and ensuring a secure electoral process.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the meeting served as a strategic platform to review and coordinate security arrangements for the election.

The statement added that emphasis is placed on seamless inter-agency cooperation, effective deployment of personnel, and real-time intelligence sharing.

The Commissioner of Police, who was represented at the meeting by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Ibrahim Ezekiel, reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to ensuring a peaceful, free, and credible electoral process in Anambra State.

The statement further noted that the CP stressed the importance of synergy among all security agencies, emphasizing that election security is a shared responsibility that demands professionalism, neutrality, and unwavering dedication from all personnel involved.

Security agencies present at the meeting include the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service, and the Nigeria Correctional Service—reaffirmed their readiness to operate under the ICCES framework.

They pledged to work collectively to ensure the safety of voters and maintain public order before, during, and after the election.

The Situation Room, established at the Command Headquarters, will function as a central hub for real-time monitoring, coordination, and rapid response to any security-related developments throughout the election period.
