Anambra Guber: INEC Four-Member Team Arrives for Pre-Election Assessment, Expresses Satisfaction

A four-member team of officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Headquarters, Abuja, has arrived in Anambra State to assess preparations for the November 8, 2025 governorship election.

The team however expressed satisfaction over the level of preparedness on group for the election.

The delegation, led by Prof. Rhoda Gumus, National Commissioner in charge of Election Planning and Monitoring, comprised Mr. Sam Olumekun (INEC Chairman), Dr. Kenneth Ukeagu (supervising Anambra State), and Dr. Baba Bila (Chairman, Electoral Operations and Logistics Committee).

Upon arrival, the team was received by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Queen Elizabeth Agwu, and other officials at the INEC State Headquarters in Awka, where they reviewed logistical arrangements and general preparedness for the upcoming poll.

The officials also embarked on field visits to Dunukofia (Anambra Central) and Oyi (Anambra North) Local Government Areas, inspecting the batching of non-sensitive election materials and monitoring the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) at registration areas in Ukpo and Nteje.

Following the inspection, the team expressed satisfaction with the level of progress recorded so far and urged voters to remain patient, cooperative, and orderly throughout the electoral process.

In the coming days, the delegation is expected to hold engagements with the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), transport unions, and to observe a mock accreditation exercise before concluding its mission.

The Commission reiterated its commitment to conducting a peaceful, transparent, and credible governorship election in Anambra State.
