Anambra Police Boost Integrity Training Drive Ahead of Governorship Polls
The Anambra State Police Command has intensified its training programmes for officers and key stakeholders in preparation for the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
The training, which spans all Area Commands, Divisions, and Tactical Units, focuses on professional conduct during elections, effective crowd management, intelligence sharing, inter-agency collaboration, and the protection of fundamental human rights.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to upholding the principles of neutrality, professionalism, and integrity throughout the electoral process.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the Commissioner made the remarks during an ongoing intensive election-security training and refresher course organized in partnership with various Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and other stakeholders.
According to the statement, the training forms part of the Command’s sustained efforts to ensure a peaceful, credible, and well-secured governorship election. CP Orutugu emphasized that the continuous capacity-building sessions are aimed at enhancing officers’ operational readiness and ensuring the safety of voters, electoral materials, and election officials before, during, and after the polls.
The Commissioner also appealed to residents of Anambra State to remain law-abiding and to cooperate fully with security agencies in order to guarantee a hitch-free and transparent electoral exercise across the state.
