The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has concluded the statewide sensitization and engagement tour of all police formations across the state ahead of the 2025 Anambra Governorship Election.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the Commissioner rounded off the Election Security Advocacy Tour on Saturday with a final engagement session at the Awka Area Command Headquarters.

The meeting marked the culmination of a series of strategic sensitization and capacity-building interactions aimed at ensuring professional, coordinated, and effective election security operations.

In his address, CP Orutugu commended the officers and men of the Command for their discipline, dedication, and commitment throughout the advocacy campaign, which had covered all Area Commands and Divisional Headquarters in the State.

He stressed the need for absolute neutrality, professionalism, and strict respect for human rights during all election-related duties.

The Commissioner reiterated that the Anambra State Police Command is fully prepared and fortified for the protection of lives and property before, during, and after the election.

He assured residents that all tactical units, intelligence teams, and patrol formations are on heightened alert, with robust logistical support and enhanced inter-agency coordination among sister security organizations.

CP Orutugu emphasized that election security requires proactive intelligence gathering, rapid response capacity, and strict adherence to the rule of law, noting that any form of misconduct, partisanship, or abuse of power will not be tolerated.

He charged officers to remain vigilant, courageous, and committed to upholding the core values of integrity, service, and accountability that define the Nigeria Police Force.

He also underscored the importance of maintaining visible security presence and prompt response to distress calls throughout the electoral process to prevent violence or voter intimidation.

While commending the support of residents and community leaders, CP Orutugu urged members of the public to remain law-abiding, security-conscious, and cooperative with the Police.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to working closely with communities, electoral bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure a peaceful, credible, and transparent election in Anambra State.
