Agụnechemba Debunks Unpaid Salary Rumours, Tightens Grip on Anambra Borders

Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, Prince Kenneth Emeakayi,

The leadership and management of the Agụnechemba Security Squad have dismissed allegations that its operatives are being owed salaries, describing the claims as false and a calculated attempt to blackmail the organisation.
The management also refuted reports of a protest by operatives, insisting that no such action took place.
According to the outfit, any personnel who have not received salary alerts are affected by banking and documentation issues, particularly failure to provide their National Identification Number (NIN), even though their salaries have already been paid into their respective bank accounts.
Speaking on the matter, the Media and Publicity Secretary of Agụnechemba, Mr. Nweke Nweke, said the leadership is not aware of any operative being owed.
“To the best of the knowledge of the leadership of Agụnechemba, nobody is owing anybody,”
“His Excellency, the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, meant well for the operatives of Agụnechemba, and they are well paid.”he said.
Nweke explained that some operatives are experiencing challenges with their banks due to incomplete documentation.
“There are people who have problems with their banks because they have not presented their NIN and other required documents. That does not mean their money is not in their accounts,”
“In fact, I personally assisted some of them with change-of-name issues so they could access their money. Some came to this office, and we discovered their problems were purely bank-related.”
he explained.
He stressed that the issue has nothing to do with Agụnechemba as an organisation.
“This has nothing to do with Agụnechemba; it has to do with their NIN and bank requirements. Some people are not properly informed, and some operatives did not ask questions to understand the process.” Nweke said .
According to him, Agụnechemba operatives are paid promptly, sometimes even earlier than other public servants in the state.
“The governor is taking care of Agụnechemba. In fact, we are paid earlier than many other civil servants in Anambra State,”
“I challenge anyone to come out and prove that any personnel of the Agụnechemba Security Squad is being owed a kobo today.”he said.
Nweke further described the allegation as a deliberate attempt to undermine the outfit’s efforts.
“I believe whoever is spreading this story has something at the back of his mind. We cannot be blackmailed over the welfare of our operatives,” he said.
He noted that a town hall meeting had earlier been held with operatives to educate them on salary payment procedures.
“We told them clearly that to receive salaries as and when due, they must liaise with their banks and ensure their NIN issues are resolved. We do not pay cash; we use electronic payment,”
“If you have problems with your bank, you should go to the bank or come to the Agụnechemba office.” he explained.
On the alleged protest, Nweke insisted none occurred, warning that protests are incompatible with the rules governing uniformed organisations.
“Those talking about protest should know the consequences. This is a uniformed organisation, and security personnel do not go on protest,”
“I have not seen anyone who protested. In fact, there was no protest at all.”he said.
Speaking on security arrangements for the Christmas and New Year celebrations, Nweke assured residents of a robust security presence across the state.
“You are going to witness the first Christmas celebration in Anambra without gunshots anywhere. We have taken over the state,” he said.
He explained that Agụnechemba works closely with the Anambra State Police Command and other security agencies.
“We work in consonance with the Commissioner of Police. The Command recently concluded the training of Agụnechemba operatives, and we are working hand in glove with the police to secure our borders,”
“If you go to Uli, Amaọka, Ogbaru, and Ihiala, you will see Agụnechemba stationed there alongside the police.”he stated.
He added that the Udo Ga Chi security operations involve multiple agencies, including the Police, DSS, Army, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Nweke also described recent awards of excellence presented to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, Prince Kenneth Emeakayi, and the Majority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly, as morale boosters.
“The award given to our leader, Prince Kenneth Emeakayi, is a motivation for us to do more. The Police recognise the role of Agụnechemba in the fight against insecurity,”
“The Majority Leader, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Security and the Chief Investigating Officer of Agụnechemba, was also honoured, and this has motivated all of us.”he said.
He disclosed that Prince Emeakayi recently conveyed a directive from Government House while unveiling new uniforms and electronic devices procured to strengthen crime-fighting efforts.
Nweke reaffirmed the commitment of the outfit to the safety of the state.
“Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has always prioritised the welfare of Ndi Anambra and has continued to confront those who oppose the progress of the state,”
“I assure the governor that our operatives will continue to combat criminal elements and work tirelessly to restore Anambra’s reputation as one of the safest states in Nigeria.”he said
