Ebonyi Secures Operational Licence to Run Commercial Airline
Nabob Ogbonna, Abakaliki
The Ebonyi State Government has announced that it has secured an operational licence to run its own commercial airline in Nigeria.
This development comes barely two weeks after the state acquired three aircraft for commercial operations.
The Commissioner for Aviation and Transport Technology, Ngozi Obichukwu, disclosed this yesterday at the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport, Onueke, in Ebonyi State.
According to her, “The airport is now fully licensed, and we have obtained all the necessary licences for air flight operations.
“We now have approval to operate our own airline, Ebonyi Air, and our aircraft are already on ground.
“We have completed the elevation works, and we also have a nine-storey building in place.
“Additionally, we have a functional runway lighting system, which means we can operate flights at night.
“This is one of the most important facilities that some airports do not have. Aviation is not something you take lightly; it involves strict procedures, and we have met all the required standards.
“Very soon, you will witness cargo flights, commercial flights, as well as both domestic and international operations taking place here,” she assured.
