Security Breakthrough:Police Arrest Anambra Ringleader, Recover Weapons

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a suspected criminal ringleader of a syndicate,one Chukwuka Anene that has been harassing residents of Ogidi in Idemili North Local Government Area .

In a statement released by the spokesman of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Tuesday, the 46-year-old man confessed to being the armourer of the criminal gang.

According to him, the suspect subsequently led police operatives to the gang’s hideout in Ogidi, where the following items were recovered: two pump-action guns, two locally made Beretta pistols, five rounds of 9mm ammunition, seven live cartridges, a beret linked to a cult group, and body armour.

The Command has intensified efforts to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang, while investigations remain ongoing.

Ikenga stated that earlier in the operation, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, arrested three suspects, which led to the recovery of arms in Ogidi. He added that the breakthrough followed sustained investigation and interrogation.

He further stated that the Anambra State Police Command reiterates its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.

He also urged members of the public to continue supporting the police with credible information and assured that further developments would be communicated to the public in due course.
