A Nigerian lawyer, Barrister Abdulsalami Ginsau, has reportedly died after being trapped inside an elevator at a hotel in Abuja.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred on Tuesday under circumstances that remain unclear, as reported by Leadership.
The deceased was said to have been stuck in the elevator for an extended period, which allegedly led to his death, suspected to have resulted from suffocation.
However, the exact cause of the incident has not yet been officially confirmed. There is still uncertainty as to whether the tragedy was caused by a power outage or a mechanical fault in the elevator system.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the relevant authorities nor the management of the hotel involved has issued an official statement regarding the incident.
The identity of the hotel has also not been disclosed.
Reacting to the development, former lawmaker Shehu Sani described the incident as “pathetic.”
In a post on his verified Facebook account, Sani stated:
“The case of Barrister Abdulsalami Ginsau is pathetic. He was reportedly trapped in an Abuja hotel lift and suffocated to death. Could it be that the power supplying the lift failed? Could it be that the lift had technical issues? Or is it simply a tragic twist of fate? May Allah grant him Aljanna Firdausi. Amin.”
