Abia, Estate Surveyors Partner for Statewide Development

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has disclosed that his administration will work closely with the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) to drive the State’s development.

He added that he has directed members of his cabinet to support the association in that effort.

Governor Otti made this known recently at Government House, Umuahia, while receiving a NIESV delegation led by its President and Chairman of Council, Chief Victor Adekunle Alonge.

The delegation was in the State for the institution’s 2026 annual conference and general meeting holding at the International Conference Centre, Ogurube Layout, Umuahia.

“We consider ourselves partners to institutions and people who have the same vision and share our aspiration for a better place for our people,”

“We have worked closely with members of this institution in Abia State, and I think we will even redouble that effort. There are a lot of things we are doing on the real estate side that will require your involvement and that of your members. This offers us an opportunity to close ranks and work more closely with each other.”Otti said.

He thanked the institution for choosing Abia to host its annual conference for the first time and reiterated his commitment to establishing a 5-Star Hotel in Umuahia to provide comfortable accommodation for visitors and associations holding conferences in the State.

He wished NIESV members fruitful deliberations.

Earlier, Chief Alonge said the 2026 annual conference, themed “Corridors, Connectivity and Capital: Rethinking Real Estate Development Along Renewed Hope Infrastructure Investments,” will run from Monday, April 13 to Saturday, April 18 at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia.

He expressed delight that Abia is hosting the conference for the first time under Governor Otti’s administration.

Alonge commended the governor for the financial and logistical support extended to the institution in the State and for the good working relationship between NIESV members and the State government. “We would continue to offer the State our professional services in line with global best practices, upholding our well-articulated code of professional ethics,” he stated.

He noted that NIESV members have contributed to the State in policy formulation, land administration, asset management, housing, and project development. He added that the governor’s transformation drive and sound policies have opened Abia to local and foreign investment, significantly strengthening the State’s economy.
