Elders and stakeholders of Ohaukwu Local Government Area in Ebonyi State have endorsed the re-election bid of Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Senator Nwebonyi, who represents Ebonyi North Senatorial District, recently commenced a consultative tour across the local government areas in the zone to seek the support and mandate of his constituents for a second term in office.

The endorsement was formally announced by former Senator Anthony Agbo during the senator’s stakeholders’ meeting in Ohaukwu on Thursday.

Agbo stated that the Deputy Chief Whip has demonstrated capacity, prudence, and effective legislative representation, describing his performance in the Senate as both impactful and people-oriented.

According to him, “We, the people of Ohaukwu, are satisfied with your performance. You have exhibited competence and delivered quality representation on the floor of the 10th Senate.

“Beyond legislative duties, you have implemented numerous constituency interventions, including the empowerment of thousands of residents, provision of scholarships to indigent students, construction of houses for widows, development of road infrastructure, and facilitation of federal projects that have benefited not only Ebonyi North but the entire state.

“In view of these achievements, we unanimously adopt your candidacy for a second term, confident that you will consolidate on these gains and deliver even greater dividends of democracy.”

In his remarks, Senator Nwebonyi outlined key priority areas for his next term, including education, agriculture, healthcare, and job creation.

On education, he disclosed that, out of the 465 public schools in Ohaukwu Local Government Area, an additional 20 schools have been earmarked for renovation as part of efforts to improve learning infrastructure and outcomes in the area.
