Gov. Nwifuru Reshuffles Cabinet 3 Years into Administration

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, on Monday reshuffled his cabinet in a major reorganisation that saw several commissioners redeployed to different ministries, three years into his administration.
The cabinet reshuffle comes amid growing public debates and criticisms in some quarters of the state, particularly on social media, over the performance and capacity of some commissioners appointed at the inception of the administration.
Announcing the reshuffle during a press briefing in Abakaliki, the state capital, the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Chief Ikeuwa Omebeh, said the exercise was aimed at strengthening governance, improving service delivery, and consolidating the achievements recorded by Governor Nwifuru’s administration.
Omebeh explained that the reshuffle followed the swearing-in of two new commissioners, Professor Omari Omaka and Sylvester Nwenu Nwite, as well as the inauguration of Felix Onyekachi Njoku as Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilisation.
He stated that Governor Nwifuru charged the newly appointed officials to regard their appointments as a call to selfless service and urged them to remain committed to the effective implementation and consolidation of the administration’s People’s Charter of Needs agenda, stressing that delivering meaningful development to the people of Ebonyi State remains paramount.
Insideoutnews had earlier reported that the Ebonyi State House of Assembly last week successfully screened and confirmed the two new commissioner nominees before their swearing-in.
According to Omebeh, “Chidiebere Onya was redeployed from the Ministry of Solid Mineral Development to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, while Dr. Ngozi Obichukwu moved from the Ministry of Aviation to the Ministry of Special Projects.
“Also, Sylvester Nwenu Nwite, one of the newly sworn-in commissioners, was assigned to head the Ministry of Environment, while Professor Omari Omaka was appointed Commissioner for Tertiary Education.
“Others affected by the reshuffle include Prof. Ajuka Obasi Nwogo, who was redeployed from the Ministry of Markets Development to the Ministry of Skill Acquisition, while Okwu Oko Udu was appointed Commissioner for Markets Development.
“Hon. Magnus Chinedu Nka, who previously headed the Ministry of Water Resources, was redeployed to the Ministry of Solid Mineral Development, while Victor Uzoma Chukwu moved from the Ministry of Environment to the Ministry of Water Resources.”he added.
