Ex-Anambra Lawmaker Theo Nnorom Elected NASME National President

Former lawmaker who represented Ihiala I State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Theo Nnorom, has emerged as the new National President of the Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME).
Hon. Nnorom secured 87 votes to win the association’s presidential election conducted during its Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Other positions contested during the AGM included the offices of Deputy National President (South), Deputy National President (North), Zonal Vice Presidents representing the six geopolitical zones, and several other national executive positions.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Nnorom expressed appreciation to the outgoing National Executive Council, led by Dr. Abdulrasheed Yerima, for its leadership and contributions to the growth of the association.
He pledged to reposition NASME to better meet the needs and aspirations of its members by implementing policies and programmes that will strengthen small and medium enterprises, promote innovation, and enable entrepreneurs to achieve their business objectives.
He also commended the Federal Government for its commendable initiatives aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) ecosystem. However, he appealed for greater commitment from government agencies, development partners, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to create a more conducive, stable, and business-friendly environment that will enable entrepreneurs across the country to thrive.
According to Hon. Nnorom, a key aspect of his administration’s strategy will be to engage in constructive dialogue and build strategic partnerships with stakeholders across Nigeria’s SME ecosystem.
He said his leadership would establish platforms that promote the ease of doing business, improve access to opportunities, and enhance collaboration among business owners, policymakers, investors, and development partners.
He further promised to create new market opportunities for members through strategic partnerships with both local and international markets, while expanding access to investment, capacity-building initiatives, and business development support.
Meanwhile, the association urged the Federal Government to sustain policies that will guarantee a conducive and economically friendly business environment, improve infrastructure, reduce regulatory bottlenecks, and enhance the ease of doing business across the country.
NASME also called on stakeholders in the public and private sectors, development agencies, and its members to strengthen collaboration in order to attract greater investment, expand market access, increase patronage, and foster strategic partnerships with the international business community for the growth of Nigeria’s SME sector.
