Abia Group Backs Dimgba Joseph, Urges NDC to Grant Him Isuikwuato Assembly Ticket

A civil society organisation, the Forum of Abia Democrats (FABD), has appealed to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to issue its ticket for the Isuikwuato State Constituency seat in the Abia State House of Assembly to Hon. Chief Dimgba Okwudiri Joseph.
According to the pro-democracy group, Hon. Chief Dimgba Joseph remains the most suitable candidate to secure victory for the NDC in the forthcoming general election and effectively represent the people of Isuikwuato State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly.
The appeal was contained in a statement made available to journalists on Thursday following the group’s joint meeting.
The statement was jointly signed by Surveyor Samuel Aguiyi and Ambassador Chinedu Emeruwa.
The forum stated that its appeal was prompted by the overwhelming support and widespread acceptance enjoyed by Hon. Chief Dimgba Joseph among party members and the electorate during the recently conducted House of Assembly primary election for the Isuikwuato State Constituency.
According to the statement:
“Apart from his widespread acceptance among the electorate in Isuikwuato Local Government Area, Hon. Chief Dimgba Joseph has remained committed to public service and dedicated to the advancement of democratic values in Abia State and Nigeria at large.”
The forum further noted that Hon. Chief Dimgba Joseph has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to societal development through his leadership roles in various professional bodies, which he has chaired and coordinated with competence, diligence, and efficiency.
It also described him as a steadfast defender of justice and a passionate advocate for the rights and welfare of ordinary Nigerians.
According to the group:
“The confidence and widespread acceptance he enjoys among the electorate in Isuikwuato State Constituency will undoubtedly translate into electoral victory for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in next year’s general election.”
The Forum of Abia Democrats therefore urged the national leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to be guided by competence, grassroots acceptance, and the zoning principle in making its final decision regarding the party’s ticket for the Abia State House of Assembly.
The pan-Abia socio-political organisation also pledged to mobilise substantial electoral support for the NDC to ensure the victory and emergence of Hon. Chief Dimgba Okwudiri Joseph as the lawmaker representing Isuikwuato State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly in next year’s general election.
