Environmental Sciences Emerge Male Football Champions at NAU Staff Games

The Faculty of Environmental Sciences successfully defended their male football title at the recently concluded Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) Staff Games, held at the university sports arena.
The defending champions defeated the Faculty of Arts 2–0 in the final, bringing to a close a fiercely contested tournament that featured fourteen faculties and university units.
Environmental Sciences maintained their impressive form throughout the competition and produced another commanding performance in the final. The team’s victory was secured by two well-taken goals from Dr. Aloma Anselem Chukwuma, Head of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, and Prof. Joseph Onyejiaka.
The Faculty of Arts finished as runners-up, while the Faculty of Social Sciences claimed the bronze medal.
Reacting to the victory, the team captain, Dr. Chiagozie Bert-Okonkwor, commended the players for their discipline, teamwork, and unity throughout the tournament. He noted that these qualities were instrumental in helping the team retain its title despite the stiff competition.
Other members of the championship-winning team include Awotunde Babatunde Adeolu, Akabogu Baruch, Okwuchukwu Okeke, Amuzie Kanayo, Arize Chinedu, Orji Emeka, Ifeatu Anazodo, Surv. Emeka Ernest Okafor, Qs. Gideon Eze, Dr. Peter Nzoiwu, Head of the Department of Geography and Meteorology, and Fidelis Anthony Dung.
