Nkwelle Ezunaka PG Commends Soludo, Seeks Hospital, Smart School

The President-General of Nkwelle Ezunaka Town Union in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, Ogbuefi Sir Vitalis Nwakobi, has commended the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, for what he described as the governor’s remarkable developmental strides and outstanding achievements across the state.
Speaking with journalists, Nwakobi said Governor Soludo has performed exceptionally well by providing essential infrastructure and implementing people-oriented programmes that have positively impacted communities across the three senatorial zones of the state.
According to him, the governor’s achievements are evident in the construction of quality road networks that have improved connectivity across the state, the rehabilitation of the education sector, improved healthcare delivery, the provision of critical infrastructure, particularly in rural communities, youth empowerment through the One Youth, Two Skills initiative, enhanced security, increased Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), prudent management of state resources, and improved transparency and accountability in governance.
“I am proud of Governor Soludo. He is touching every sector of the state’s development and has demonstrated purposeful leadership. He is doing remarkably well. I wish him greater wisdom, sound health, and many more fruitful birthday celebrations as he marks his 66th birthday,” Nwakobi said.
Speaking on developments in Nkwelle Ezunaka, the President-General also commended Governor Soludo for the ongoing construction of the Onitsha–3-3–Nkwelle–Otuocha Expressway.
He noted that upon completion, the road project would further enhance the status of Nkwelle Ezunaka as one of the state’s major urban communities, stressing that the town currently hosts more than 178 residential estates and continues to experience rapid urban expansion.
While expressing appreciation to the governor for the project, Nwakobi appealed to him to also remember the hinterland areas of the community by extending developmental projects to the numerous rural roads that have remained in deplorable condition for years.
He specifically appealed for the reconstruction of the strategic road linking the town market to the palace of the traditional ruler, as well as the Oze Nkwelle Ezunaka Road leading to the New Onitsha Main Market Extension, including the spur connecting the Mechanic Village and the Building Materials Market.
He further appealed to Governor Soludo to consider establishing a general hospital in Nkwelle Ezunaka to improve healthcare services for residents.
He also requested that one of the community’s secondary schools be upgraded into a Smart School to enhance teaching and learning through modern educational technology.
Reflecting on his achievements since assuming office seven months ago as President-General of the community, Nwakobi described the restoration of lasting peace as his administration’s greatest accomplishment.
He explained that upon assuming office, he initiated a reconciliation process that successfully brought together all the warring factions involved in prolonged disputes over land ownership and administration within the community.
According to him, the reconciliation efforts enabled his administration to permanently address the lingering problem of land grabbing, which had for many years been responsible for tension, insecurity, and frequent conflicts in the town.
He said his leadership developed strategic mechanisms that effectively curtailed the menace while also introducing youth empowerment programmes designed to provide alternative means of livelihood for young people who had previously been involved in land-related disputes.
Nwakobi further disclosed that his administration established several committees to ensure strict compliance with environmental sanitation regulations, rehabilitated the long-neglected town hall, and strengthened the community’s security architecture to guarantee the safety of lives and property.
According to him, these initiatives have restored peace, order, and confidence among residents of Nkwelle Ezunaka.
“Nkwelle Ezunaka is now a peaceful community. Our youths are no longer involved in violence or land grabbing. We have reoriented them towards hard work, productivity, and responsible living. Our young traditional ruler is doing very well, and both my executive members and I will continue to cooperate and work harmoniously with him for the continued progress and development of our community,” he said.
