LGA Polls: Anambra CP Assures Residents of Maximum Security
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, has assured residents of adequate protection before, during and after Saturday’s Local Government Area (LGA) elections in the state.
The Commissioner also called on residents to come out and exercise their civic responsibilities without fear, assuring them that the police and other security agencies have put measures in place to ensure their safety throughout the electoral process.
In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Commissioner assured residents that the Command, in collaboration with sister security agencies, would continue to work together to protect lives and property and maintain peace across the state.
CP Nnanna Oji Ama gave the assurance on Friday while receiving a delegation of accredited election observers at the Command Headquarters in Awka ahead of the Local Government Area elections.
He assured the observers of the readiness of the police and other security agencies to ensure a peaceful, secure and credible Local Government election in the state.
The Commissioner reiterated that the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, had harmonised its operational plans and deployed adequate personnel and logistics across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
According to him, the deployment is aimed at providing a safe and secure environment for voters, electoral officials, accredited observers and other stakeholders throughout the electoral process.
CP Nnanna further assured the observers and the people of Anambra State that security personnel had been strategically positioned to facilitate the free movement of law-abiding citizens while responding firmly and professionally to any act capable of threatening the peace and security of the state.
He urged all stakeholders to conduct themselves peacefully and comply with the law, stressing that the security agencies would not relent in their efforts to safeguard lives and property and ensure the smooth conduct of the election.
In attendance were representatives of the Nigeria Youth for the Advancement of Democracy Initiative, Abuja; Grassroots Women Empowerment Association of Nigeria; Nigeria Progressive Women and Youth Development Initiatives; and Youth for Agriculture Initiatives.
