Political Tension in Ebonyi: NDC Accuses Commissioner of Alleged Abduction, Brutal Assault

Mr. Maduabuchi Ogbee

The Commissioner for Commerce in Ebonyi State, Hon. Oguzor Kanu Offia Nwaliri, has allegedly brutalised a supporter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Maduabuchi Ogbee, who is said to be campaigning for the party’s candidate for the State House of Assembly.

Following the alleged assault and brutalisation, members of the NDC in the South-East have announced that the lives of their members and supporters are in danger due to the actions of the Commissioner.

According to reports, Ogbee had gone online to campaign for the NDC House of Assembly candidate, Bar. Rollins Ovunata Offia Nwaliri, for Ezza South Constituency, who, incidentally, is the half-brother of the Commissioner.

Angered by the online campaign, Commissioner Oguzor Offia Nwaliri allegedly ordered thugs loyal to him to abduct Ogbee and bring him to his residence, where he was allegedly manhandled and beaten severely.

According to reports, the Commissioner, who is said to be opposed to the political ambition of his half-brother, warned that as long as the 2027 general elections last, those who oppose any candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) would not be spared.

He reportedly said that the attack on Ogbee was intended as a lesson to potential victims.

According to an Insideoutnews investigation, members of the NDC in the South-East, under the aegis of the NDC Forum, have called for the resignation or sack of the Commissioner.

In a statement signed by the forum’s spokesman in Awka, Mr. Chumdi Nwachukwu, the group stated that individuals who engage in such acts neither possess the integrity nor the pedigree to occupy public office.

“Our attention has been drawn to the continuous brutality against non-members of the APC by their chieftains, and we condemn this in its entirety, given the fact that this is a democratic setting where people are free to support any party or candidate of their choice.

“What is sad here is that the Ebonyi State Police Command has turned a blind eye to this act, and we call for his resignation or sack by the Governor because such men do not deserve to hold public office.

“We hereby warn that we shall no longer take kindly to this act of thuggery and daylight attacks on our members, and we urge the Inspector General of Police to take drastic action, or we would resort to self-help,” the body said.

If you want, I can also make it more punchy and publication-ready in a Nigerian newspaper style, while still preserving every detail and allegation.
