I Never Endorsed Any Candidate for Anambra Governorship Election — Former Governor Obiano

The former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has categorically denied endorsing any candidate for the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.

According to a statement issued by his media aide, Sir Paul Nwosu, the public is urged to disregard circulating reports suggesting that Chief Obiano has endorsed any candidate .The statement described such reports as entirely false and without basis.

The statement emphasized that Chief Obiano has not addressed any gathering of Ndi Anambra in Texas, nor has he granted any interview or issued any public or private statement regarding the upcoming election or any individual aspirant.

“As a statesman and former Governor who served Anambra State with distinction, Chief Obiano remains committed to the peace, progress, and democratic integrity of the state,” the statement noted.

It further urged Ndi Anambra and the general public to dismiss the circulating story as fake news.

The statement reads in full:”The attention of His Excellency, Chief (Dr.) Willie Maduabuchi Obiano, Akpokuedike Aguleri and former Governor of Anambra State, has been drawn to a viral social media post falsely attributing to him the endorsement of a particular aspirant in the forthcoming Anambra Governorship Election.

The fabricated post mischievously claims that Chief Obiano, while allegedly addressing Ndi Anambra in Texas, ‘urged them to go for the ultimate’ and declared that a certain aspirant ‘will do excellently well as Governor of Anambra State.’ This narrative is entirely false, deliberately misleading, and should be completely disregarded by the public.

Chief Obiano neither addressed any gathering of Ndi Anambra in Texas nor granted any interview or issued any statement,publicly or privately,regarding the 2025 election or any individual aspirant.As a statesman and former Governor who served Anambra State with distinction, Chief Obiano remains firmly committed to the peace, progress, and democratic integrity of the state.

While he is not apolitical and retains the right to express his views clearly and personally when he deems fit, any such declaration will come directly from him and not through faceless third parties or dubious online platforms.

The general public is therefore strongly advised to treat the said statement as FAKE NEWS.
