Supporters of Mr. Peter Obi, under the aegis of the Obidient Movement, Anambra State chapter, rolled out the drums on Saturday to celebrate the 64th birthday of the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate.

The jubilant supporters, who turned out in large numbers, marched through popular locations including Nkwo Amenyi, Aroma Junction, Ifite Awka, and Eke Awka Market, donating food items such as bags of rice, cartons of noodles, biscuits, tomato paste, and drinks to indigent residents while honoring Obi.

The group visited several institutions, including Tender Touch Orphanage Home in Amenyi-Awka and Model Community Children’s Home in Ifite-Awka, as well as Awka Central Mosque. They were warmly received by the leadership and members of the Muslim community, who eulogized Mr. Peter Obi, describing him as a detribalized Nigerian.

Presenting the donated items, Dr. Decker Ezeadili, a member of the Obidient Movement’s South East Advisory Council, explained that the gesture aimed to bring smiles to the faces of innocent children and fulfill Peter Obi’s tradition of celebrating his birthday with orphans and people with disabilities.

“We are here to celebrate our principal, our legendary leader and icon, Mr. Peter Obi a man who has given hope to the hopeless in Nigeria. In line with his wishes, we chose to celebrate his 64th birthday with the less privileged by visiting orphanage homes and giving hope to those little angels,” Dr. Ezeadili said.

Comrade Charles Obiora Anueyiagu, one of the collegiate leaders of the Obidient Movement in Anambra, noted that Peter Obi’s 64th birthday provided his followers nationwide and beyond with an opportunity for reflection, inspiration, and renewed hope for Nigeria.

He explained that the Obidients’ decision to visit and donate to orphanages was meant to demonstrate Peter Obi’s love for Nigeria and his strong desire to use power as an instrument of liberation.

He expressed hope that Nigeria would reach new heights under a Peter Obi presidency after the 2027 general election.

“Peter Obi has a natural love for Nigeria and is doing everything within his capacity to end our decades of suffering. That is why we are committed to ensuring a new Nigeria — one we believe is possible.

“We, the followers of Peter Obi ,the Obidients globally and in Nigeria wish to show love to the less privileged. What we did in Awka also took place in all 36 states of Nigeria, including the FCT, and in other countries where Obidients reside because Obi is an icon of democracy and a beacon of hope for ordinary Nigerians.

“Our prayer for him is that God grants his heart’s desire to make Nigeria work again. We strongly believe that with Peter Obi, Nigeria will resurrect.

“The Obidient Movement is a natural movement. We are naturally endowed to salvage this country, and we know that with Peter Obi, all Obidients and people of goodwill who want Nigeria to work again will come together to ensure we vote because this time, our vote must count. If they don’t count our vote, we count them in. This country must work again,” he said.

In separate remarks, Stella Ezeugwu of Tender Touch Orphanage Home, Awka, and Grace Ndubisi of Model Community Children’s Home, Real Estate, Ifite-Awka, praised the leadership and members of Anambra Obidients for remembering them and extended warm regards to Mr. Peter Obi on the joyous occasion of his birthday.
