Anambra Community Umuoji Elects New Executives
Chief (Sir) Ifeanyi Muoemenam (Ichie Chinechendo) President General of Umuoji Improvement Union of Nigeria (UIUN),in idemili North LGA of Anambra State

The Umuoji Improvement Union of Nigeria (UIUN), in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has elected new officers to pilot the affairs of the town union for the next three years.
The election, which took place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Umuoji Civic Centre, saw Chief (Sir) Ifeanyi Muoemenam (Ichie Chinechendo) emerge as President General.
A total of 292 delegates, drawn from the union’s affiliate bodies,including branches, villages, the women’s wing, Umuokpu Adaora, youth wing, and various clubs—participated in the electoral process.
Chief Muoemenam, who is the incumbent President General, defeated his closest contender, Chief Cosmos Ikeme (Ochiagha, Ichie Ugwunze), to retain the position.
Other officers elected are:Hon. Chudi Chukelu – First Vice President,Chief Emeka Egbueh – Second Vice President,Engr. Peter Okafor – Secretary General,Comrade Ashinze Nweje – Assistant National Secretary,Dr. Uchenna Udegbe – Financial Secretary,Nwosu Obinna – Assistant Financial Secretary 1 ,Nnadi Oluchukwu – Assistant Financial Secretary II,Azubuike Obum – National Treasurer,Hon. Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu, KSJI, ANIPR – National Publicity Secretary/Public Relations Officer,Engr. Chuks Odina – Chief Provost,Nze Vincent Okeke-Akwa – Assistant Provost I,Mike Tochukwu Onwuachu – Assistant Provost II and Chuka Igwilo – Social Welfare Officer
In his acceptance speech, Chief Muoemenam expressed gratitude for the peaceful conduct of the election and thanked the delegates for their confidence in his leadership.
He pledged to uphold the trust placed in him and his team, vowing not to betray their mandate or abuse the privilege of service.
He stated that his administration would be guided by the principles of peace, unity, and progress, and called on all Umuoji indigenes to join hands with him to complete ongoing developmental projects and initiate new ones.
The President General also appreciated the electoral committee, chaired by Chief Obinna Nwachukwu, for conducting a transparent and credible election.
He further commended the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, for ensuring a secure and enabling environment for community activities across the state.
In his remarks, the Regent of Umuoji, High Chief Dr. Christopher Nnedu (Ichie Eze Odezuluigbo), congratulated the newly elected officers and urged them to work selflessly for the overall good of the community.
The election, monitored by representatives from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, was widely adjudged to be peaceful, free, fair, and credible.
