The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, has confirmed that His Excellency, Chief Willie Maduaburochukwu Obiano (Akpokuedike), former Governor of Anambra State (2014–2022), is alive and well.

In a statement released by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Christian Aburime, Soludo affirmed that he personally spoke with Chief Obiano, who is hale and hearty in the United States of America.

According to Governor Soludo, this confirmation becomes necessary in light of the malicious rumours and utterly false reports circulating on social media and certain online platforms claiming that Chief Obiano passed away in a London hospital earlier today.

Governor Soludo categorically stated that he has spoken with the former governor and can confirm that he is alive and in good health.

The Governor expressed grave concern over the reckless dissemination of such harmful rumours, describing them as wicked, irresponsible, and unacceptable. He strongly urged media practitioners particularly online publishers to uphold journalistic ethics by verifying information through official channels before making any publication.

He emphasized that spreading unverified death rumours is not only wicked and irresponsible but also undermines public trust.

The Government therefore urges the general public to disregard the trending rumours and remain assured that the former governor is alive, hale, and hearty.
