Ebonyi APGA Celebrates Prof. Odoh’s Court Victory, Describes as Clear Vindication
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ebonyi State, alongside supporters and followers of the party’s former governorship candidate, Prof. Bernard Ifeanyi Odoh, has celebrated the recent judgment of the National Industrial Court, Abuja, which ruled in favour of Prof. Odoh in his case against the University of Gusau.
On Tuesday, jubilant supporters took to the streets of Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, praising what they described as a landmark victory that reaffirms the integrity and reputation of Prof. Odoh.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Ebonyi State APGA Publicity Secretary, Comrade Chris Emmanuel, the party described the court ruling as a significant affirmation of citizens’ rights and the triumph of truth over politically motivated falsehoods.
According to the statement, Ebonyi State APGA Chairman, Hon. Chukwudi Nwankwo, hailed the judgment as a “major setback for those who attempted to tarnish the image” of Prof. Odoh, the first Professor of Applied Geophysics of Ebonyi origin.
He stated that although justice may sometimes be delayed, it cannot be denied.
“This judgment is a blow to all those who sought to undermine Prof. Odoh’s innocence and professional standing. A person’s destiny may face obstacles, but it cannot be altered. God sees everyone’s efforts and rewards each person in due time,” Nwankwo said.
He noted that APGA members across the state expressed deep satisfaction with the court’s decision, which fully exonerated Prof. Odoh of allegations of certificate forgery and reaffirmed his legitimate status as a professor of Applied Geophysics for over a decade.
The statement further highlighted that the court’s decision—awarding ₦5 million in damages, restoring all of Prof. Odoh’s rights, and compelling the University of Gusau to issue a written apology represents not only a personal vindication but also a strong message against the weaponization of institutions for political persecution.
“Prof. Odoh, who attained his professorship at the remarkable age of 26, endured hardship and sleepless nights as attempts were made to destroy his reputation. Yet he remained steadfast, trusting in God even when the odds were stacked against him. Today, justice has prevailed,” he added.
APGA described the verdict as a moral and political victory, reinforcing the party’s commitment to defending the rights of its members and promoting accountability, fairness, and the rule of law in Nigeria’s democratic system.
