Security Operatives Arrest Two Suspects Supplying Food,Logistics to Criminal Gang in Anambra
Security operatives in Anambra State have arrested two individuals alleged to be supplying food and other logistics to a criminal gang operating in parts of the state.
Spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, disclosed in a statement on Friday that the arrests were made by a Police-led Joint Security Team comprising operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, and Agunechemba units.
The operation, he said, was carried out in the early hours of December 11, 2025, following credible intelligence.
According to Ikenga, the two suspects belong to a syndicate responsible for providing food and essential supplies to a criminal group linked to secessionist activities.
The group is believed to be operating from camps located around Orsumoghu and Aguluezechukwu communities.
He added that the operatives recovered one Type 06 rifle with ten rounds of live ammunition, two pump-action guns, and twenty live cartridges during the operation.
The suspects were identified as Mmadubuchi Ike, male, 28, and Chinonso Izunobi, male, 34.
Ikenga stated that preliminary interrogation connected the suspects to major crimes, including the murder of a youth leader popularly known as “Biggy” in Ukpor, as well as multiple kidnapping incidents across the state.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, assured the public that an intensive investigation is ongoing to track down other members of the syndicate who are currently at large. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to safeguarding all communities in the state, especially as the festive season approaches.
