How Lodger Loses Car at Hotel in Aguleri

A resident of Anambra State has raised alarm after his vehicle was reportedly stolen from a popular hotel in Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area of the state.

The victim, who was lodging at the hotel, said his white Mercedes-Benz C300 (2010 model), with registration number ABUJA BWR-761BU and chassis number WDDGF8BB2BR133373, was stolen from the hotel premises where it had been parked.
According to the car owner, he parked the vehicle within the hotel compound before retiring to his room for the night. However, when he woke up the following morning, he discovered that the car key was missing.
Despite conducting a thorough search of his room, he could not find it.
He said he contacted friends who had visited him in his room, but none admitted seeing or handling the keys.
After unsuccessful attempts to locate the key, the lodger informed the hotel’s security personnel about the situation. He explained that he might need to extend his stay by an extra day in order to process a replacement key before driving back home.
He also requested that the security team closely monitor the vehicle and immediately alert him if anyone attempted to open or tamper with it.
While he was still in his room, the hotel receptionist later knocked on his door to inform him that someone had driven the vehicle out of the premises.
When questioned, the security officer on duty reportedly stated that he noticed someone attempting to open the car and approached to verify the person’s identity. However, the suspect allegedly sped off with the vehicle before he could intervene.
The hotel management and the car owner were said to have subsequently reported the incident to the nearest police station after local vigilantes failed to respond to distress calls.
