Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed
The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, on Saturday visited victims rescued from bandits in Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.
He described the ordeal of the more than 50 individuals rescued as traumatic and deeply distressing.
The Governor visited the victims at Duguri Primary Healthcare Centre, where they are currently receiving treatment.
During the visit, he commiserated with the victims and assured them of the government’s support toward their full recovery and reintegration into society.
Reports indicate that many of the victims are undergoing both medical and psychological care.
The victims recounted their experiences during the Governor’s visit, raising renewed concern about the impact of insecurity on vulnerable communities.
Governor Bala Mohammed noted that several of the victims were unsuspecting individuals who became entangled in illegal mining activities, which exposed them to significant danger. He used the opportunity to stress the need for greater public awareness of the risks associated with such practices.
While pledging continued assistance, including rehabilitation and comprehensive healthcare services the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and restoring peace in affected areas through sustained collaboration with security agencies.
