Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the upcoming Anambra State gubernatorial election, has pledged to decisively address the state’s security challenges within his first three months in office if elected.
Ukachukwu made this commitment over the weekend during a visit to Ichida community in Anaocha Local Government Area, where he attended the community’s New Yam Festival and Annual International Delegates Conference.
During the occasion, the Ichida community formally endorsed him, citing his substantial impact on human capital development across the state.
Addressing the gathering, Ukachukwu—popularly known as Ikukuoma (Wind of Glory),promised to hit the ground running from day one after his inauguration, following the November 8, 2025 election.
He described insecurity as Anambra’s most pressing challenge, vowing to confront it head-on and deliver visible results within his first 90 days in office.
“No society thrives in the absence of security. We must first secure lives and property before we can talk about growing the economy.“Anambra is known for manufacturing and trade, and we will implement policies that support and expand what our people do best.” he stated.
Ukachukwu outlined a comprehensive development agenda anchored on,Electricity and Power Generation:
He pledged to leverage Anambra’s abundant gas deposits in Ayamelum and other areas to boost electricity generation and distribution.
He described stable power supply as “key to transforming the state’s economy.”
He promised to rehabilitate, dualise, and expand the long-neglected road network linking Nnewi South, Anaocha, and Njikoka, with Ichida at the center. According to him, the project would ease movement, open up rural communities, and stimulate economic activity across the three LGAs.
Ukachukwu also vowed to revolutionise agriculture through a sustainable value chain model, emphasizing that modern farming could create jobs, ensure food security, and reduce youth restiveness.
Reaffirming his commitment to grassroots development, Ukachukwu made a princely donation to support the community’s ongoing healthcare project. He also pledged to install additional solar-powered streetlights at key locations within Ichida, citing their role in improving security, business, and night life.
He further assured community leaders, women associations, youth groups, and APC supporters that his administration would be inclusive and merit-driven, promising to appoint qualified indigenes into key cabinet positions.
“Every citizen of Anambra will be treated as an equal stakeholder. My administration will ensure that everyone, regardless of background or affiliation, has a sense of belonging,” he said.
Earlier, the traditional ruler of Ichida, Igwe Charles Ezeudogu, while receiving Ukachukwu at his palace, described him as a worthy son of Anaocha and a distinguished Anambrarian who has succeeded in all spheres of life, locally and internationally.
According to the monarch, Ukachukwu has for decades been a friend, mentor, and pillar to Anambra youths, entrepreneurs, and families across the globe.
“We have no hesitation in pledging our support for his governorship ambition. He is a versatile and successful industrialist who has made us proud,” Igwe Ezeudogu said.
The President-General of Ichida, in his remarks, traced their genealogical roots to the Igwulube Okotu Clan, known for unity and mutual support.
He pledged the clan’s full backing for Ukachukwu.
The Youth Leader of Ichida, Mr. Chukwuemeka Ezenwaka, assured Ukachukwu of full youth support, stating that their endorsement was based on his personality and performance, not political slogans.
“We are not voting for party symbols; we are voting for Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu. We believe he will replicate his youth-friendly investment model across Anambra State,” Ezenwaka said.
Hon. (Mrs.) Genevieve Ekwochi, a prominent APC stalwart in the area, and Pastor Ikeme Nwokedi, a respected community leader, called for mass mobilisation of voters across Anaocha and beyond.
Nwokedi described Ukachukwu as “a man of his words” and “a redeemed Christian”, urging voters to resist inducement and vote according to conscience.
“Come November 8, 2025, vote APC—and that means voting for Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu. His success begins with our efforts at the grassroots,” he urged.
Also speaking, Madam Appollonia Osigwe commended Ukachukwu for a previous solar streetlight project in the community, which she said had greatly improved business activities, nightlife, and public safety.
She called on women in the community to turn out in large numbers and vote en masse for Prince Ukachukwu and the APC in the forthcoming election.
With growing endorsements from traditional institutions, grassroots leaders, and youth movements, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu’s campaign is gathering momentum ahead of the 2025 governorship race. His message of security, development, and inclusive governance appears to be resonating across communities in Anambra State.
Whether this groundswell of support will translate into victory at the polls remains to be seen, but for now, Ichida stands firmly behind the man they believe can transform the future of Anambra.
