A wave of transformation sweeping through Ogbaru Main Market, popularly known as Relief Market in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State has continued to draw widespread commendation for the President-General, Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu (Madu Adichie of Oraukwu).
Traders and market officials say Ochiogu’s reforms, particularly the decongestion and expansion of internal access routes, have restored order, enhanced mobility, and improved the overall ease of doing business. Among those applauding the developments is the Market Chairman of Works, Mr. Apeh Emeka, who described the ongoing changes as “remarkable, impactful, and long overdue.”
Apeh explained that the President-General has been diligently implementing the directives of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Markets, Chief Sir Everist Uba, which focus on creating more space within the market and ensuring free flow of movement for traders and vehicles.
According to him, the results of these reforms are already evident across all trading lines.
“Previously, shanties obstructed network signals and blocked delivery trucks, lorries, and trailers,” “But now, following the directives of the Special Adviser, Chief Ochiogu has mandated every line to remove those shanties and raise their shops to at least twelve feet. The difference is clear and commendable.”he said.
Apeh, popularly known as Apeh Is Good, described Ochiogu as a “workaholic market leader” driven by passion and dedication, noting that he often deploys his personal resources to accelerate developmental projects.
He also expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Chief Sir Everist Uba (Oba Nnabuenyi) for entrusting Chief Ochiogu with the leadership of the market.
“As you can see, all the obstructions that once hindered movement inside the market have been removed. We thank God for using Governor Soludo to give Chief Ochiogu the opportunity to lead Ogbaru Main Market. We traders are delighted and impressed with his achievements,” he said.
Apeh further highlighted the installation of four new water tanks strategically distributed across the market to strengthen fire safety ahead of the dry season. He added that additional safety equipment, including fire extinguishers of various capacities, has been procured under Ochiogu’s administration.
According to him, these reforms have not only enhanced safety but have also given the market a cleaner, more organized appearance, thereby restoring confidence among traders, customers, and visitors.
