First Lady of Anambra Calls for Greater Humanitarianism and Compassion

The First Lady of Anambra State, Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has urged the people of the state to extend acts of humanitarianism and compassion beyond themselves by reaching out to vulnerable individuals and communities in need.

The wife of the Anambra State Governor made the call in a message marking the 2026 World Humanitarian Day, where she emphasized the importance of kindness, compassion, and collective responsibility in building a society where everyone has the opportunity to live with dignity.

Dr. Soludo said, “I encourage all of us to look beyond ourselves, extend compassion to those around us, and become a source of hope wherever we find ourselves. Always shine your light for the world to see. Show a little kindness.”

She noted that World Humanitarian Day provides an opportunity to recognize the spirit of compassion that inspires individuals and organizations to stand with others during moments of vulnerability, crisis, and need.

“Today, we honour the spirit of compassion that moves people to stand with others in moments of vulnerability, crisis, and need. Humanitarianism reminds us that every life matters and that our shared humanity calls us to care for, support, and uplift those who need a helping hand.
“Whether through protecting vulnerable children, supporting women and girls, addressing malnutrition, promoting access to healthcare, or creating opportunities for people to live with dignity, every act of kindness can make a meaningful and lasting difference,” she said.
According to her, as people across the state commemorate the day, Anambra residents should remember that humanitarian action goes beyond responding to emergencies or providing assistance during times of crisis.

Dr. Nonye Soludo, who is the founder of Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, explained that humanitarianism also involves building stronger and more inclusive communities where no one is neglected or left behind.

She encouraged individuals, families, communities, and organizations to embrace a culture of empathy and service, stressing that meaningful change can begin with simple acts of kindness toward people within their immediate surroundings.

She reiterated her call to the people of Anambra State to look beyond themselves, extend compassion to those around them, and become a source of hope wherever they find themselves.
