NCPC Honours Nollywood Veteran Chief Stephen Alajemba with National Patron Award

The National Community Policing Campaign (NCPC) has honoured veteran Nollywood actor, Chief Stephen Alajemba, OON, JP, popularly known as “Uwaezuoke,” with the award of National Patron.
The investiture ceremony was held at Holiday Resort Hotel, along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Onitsha, Anambra State.
Dignitaries present at the ceremony included Mrs. Ebele Alajemba, wife of the honouree, and Nollywood colleagues such as Emeka Nwosu, Sunday Okeke, Abraham Edozie, a.k.a. “Nwamgbenta,” Sympathy Nwaunadike, Ebuka Francis, and Kennedy Kalu.
NCPC officials in attendance included the South-East Director, Hon. Oliver Nnabuihe; Chief Surveillance Officer, Prince Onyeka; Surveillance Officer, Mr. Peter Onyeawuchi; and human rights activist, Comrade Obinna Solomon, a.k.a. “MC Voice of the East.”
Speaking before the presentation, Hon. Nnabuihe described the NCPC as the operational arm of the Community Crime Sensitization and Awareness Centre and a member of the National Anti-Corruption Coalition (NACC) under the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
He explained that the organisation focuses on security management, public enlightenment on security issues, and works closely with the Nigeria Police Force.
According to him, Chief Alajemba was selected for the award in recognition of his outstanding achievements, decades of excellence in comedy, and his role as a crime-fighting ambassador.
“Chief Alajemba is a renowned actor, a man of vision, and someone deeply dedicated to service, empathy, and social conscience,” Nnabuihe said. “He has also received several awards, including honours from the Commonwealth Organization and the Igbo Congress Organization, Lagos Branch.”
Presenting the award, the Executive Director of NCPC, Deacon Dr. K.O. Uba, said the decision was reached and approved by the NCPC National Headquarters in Abuja during an emergency meeting held on February 16, 2026.
He stated that the Board of Trustees resolved to include Chief Alajemba in the final list of nominees based on his outstanding contributions to the Nollywood industry as a comic actor and his impeccable record of service.
Dr. Uba added that, in recognition of Chief Alajemba’s professional guidance and contributions to safety, security, and humanitarian development in communities across Anambra State and Nigeria, the Board conferred on him the title of National Patron.
He described the award as a long-service recognition for excellence and as the “Best Nollywood Ambassador for Leadership and Service of the Year.”
In his acceptance speech, Chief Alajemba expressed gratitude to the NCPC for finding him worthy of the honour.
“I never expected this award, but I believe I deserve it,” he said. “If it were about money, many of my colleagues would have hijacked it. But this shows there is still truth and integrity. May God Almighty bless you all. I promise to do everything within my power to support the progress of this organisation. Whenever you need me, just let me know. I am always busy, but I will make myself available.”
The high point of the event was the presentation of award recognitions to some Nollywood actors, including Abraham Edozie, Okeke Sunday Arinze, Chukwuma Okeke, and Kennedy Kalu.
